The monks are coming to Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena to create a sand mandala this week, which, as is typical, they will then destroy:
But after watching the art crew on the latest Batman movie build out an elaborate crash scene over the last two days, and then have it be done with one explosion in about three minutes this morning ….I feel like I’ve just witnessed some sort of Hollywood version of this Buddhist ritual.

Special treat of the evening: the 100-year old actress Pauline Wagner, the second person to join SAG when it started upwho served as Fay Wray’s stunt double. We should all be so lucid and charming and funny when we’re pushing 101.
